1. My accordion has a mic now. Put in lovingly by Acme Accordion School of Westmont, NJ.

2. I will be playing this Today, 24th and Tomorrow 25th, at John Murdoch’s studio. Solo accordion from 12-4. Should be good accoustics and good art.
You need tickets, $10 per group of people.
5113 Anderson Road (rear barn), Holicong, PA, 18928

3. I picked up two recordings this week and I love them.

Oscar Wilde Opera from Bucks County Team

In bucks county, Music on August 5, 2009 at 9:08 AM

Elegy for a Prince, a new opera recently staged by New York City Opera. Music by veteran Sergio Cervetti, libretto by Elizabeth Esris (both of Bucks County, PA.) This beautiful adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s story of a statue and a bird who become friends through the altruistic giving of the regal statue. A beautiful animation of this opera was just produced by artist Michael Stern. I have the video below.

From the You Tube description:

…illustrates the compassion that binds the principal characters in this opera in two acts, which was premiered in excerpts at New York City Operas VOX 2007. Rooted in Oscar Wildes, The Happy Prince, the opera brings to life the original characters from the story–a statue of the Prince and a Swallow–but gives them human dimension. Swallow is a young vagabond trying to return to his home in Egypt who helps the Prince fulfill his dream of alleviating suffering in his city. The libretto incorporates Wildes language but moves beyond the linear structure of his tale. The complex original story in Elegy For A Prince is propelled by music that is melodic, expressive, at times dissonant, and humorous.
